Miniclip Mobile drives 50 million iPhone game downloads in first year of start-up
Neuchatel Switzerland, October 13th, 2011
Miniclip Mobile surpasses 50 million iPhone downloads in the Apple App Store in the first year of Miniclip's new smartphone division.
The Miniclip Mobile Division, established in August 2010, has in a short time secured Miniclip's status as a key developer, publisher and distributor in the mobile games industry. Miniclip games regularly take the top spots in the iTunes App charts in the USA and other countries around the world with hit titles like Monster Island, Fragger, Gravity Guy and iStunt 2. Earlier this year Miniclip games secured all three top spots in the Apple USA Free App chart - generating almost 1 million downloads per day!
One of the most recent games released from the mobile team, iStunt 2, has been Miniclip’s best selling title yet; selling more than 700,000 copies in less than 3 months.
"We're simply blown away with the success we've achieved in such a short time with our new mobile division. The team we've assembled is world class and will help to continue to drive our incredible mobile growth over 2012 and beyond", said Sergio Varanda - Head of Miniclip's Mobile Division.
The company is now extending its successful titles (and exciting new ones) to additional mobile platforms, including Android, Nokia Symbian, and Windows Mobile.
Miniclip's rapid success in the mobile industry is due to its worldwide online and mobile games distribution network, decade long games experience and the Miniclip brand name recognition by mobile game players.
With more than 65MM players per month, Miniclip is the world's largest website dedicated to online games. The company develops, publishes and distributes more than 650 online and mobile games. Founded in 2001, Miniclip is provately owned and privately funded with its headquarters in Switzerland and offices in six countries. Miniclip.com is the only website to ever win the prestigious Webby People's Voice Award, the "Oscars of the Internet" for the Internet's Best Game site for three consecutive years.
