President Frank Underwood plays Agar.io in the new season of House of Cards.
Miniclip is thrilled to announce that our hit game Agar.io is featured in the brand new season of Netflix’s House of Cards. Frank Underwood himself, played by actor Kevin Spacey, plays the game in season 4 of the critically-acclaimed US drama.
Main character Underwood plays and talks about Agar.io in episode 48, with our game joining a select few that have been featured in the show. Previous seasons had Underwood playing Call Of Duty, a PlayStation Vita and fellow mobile sensation Monument Valley, and the president with a finger on the pulse of what’s hot in gaming clearly knows that Agar.io is the only choice in 2016!
Everyone at Miniclip is extremely excited to be featured so prominently in such a fantastic show, and want to thank everyone responsible at Netflix and House of Cards. We’ve also added in a new, free Frank Underwood skin to the game that all our players can use.
“When we learned that House of Cards wanted to include the game in the show, we were blown away,” says Miniclip CEO Rob Small. “Agar.io has been incredibly popular since it launched last year, and this latest news really underlines it as a cultural phenomenon. The game joins a very prestigious club of titles that have been played by Frank Underwood – we hope this will lead to plenty of new fans discovering Agar.io and joining the millions around the world that already play and love it.”
Agar.io is a worldwide phenomenon achieving some incredible feats:
- Over 80m downloads
- 60 million monthly players
- Reached #1 on the App Store in US, UK, and 32 other countries
- Most-downloaded game on iOS in July 2015
This awesome event also follows the news that Agar.io videos have reached over two billion views on YouTube, a feat that only 21 other games have ever achieved. The Agar.io train keeps rolling, and with the exciting new features we’ve got planned this year, the future of the game looks very bright.
