Miniclip today announced that it had surpassed the landmark of 1 billion downloads of its mobile games, with 350m of that total coming in the last 12 months alone as the company continues to see rapid growth.
In an exclusive interview with PocketGamer.biz, Miniclip CEO Rob Small highlighted the continuing success of flagship title 8 Ball Pool, as well as the popularity of titles like Soccer Stars, Agar.io, Flip Diving and the newly-launched Archery King.
When asked about the increasing competition in the industry, Small noted that this has meant that companies are “forced to innovate more”, with Pokemon GO being a recent example. “It’s great for us, too, to be part of something that moves so quickly and to hopefully be able to shape a part of the future of the industry through our own games,” he continued. “It’s a challenge we’ve been able to meet so far and I’m confident that we are very well placed to continue our success in the future.”
Miniclip now looks forward to continuing its growth, with a first console title, MX Nitro, set for release in early 2017 on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
